Writing at the intersection of outlaw culture and everyday life.
About Us
Me-tro-sex-u-al-i-ty (me-troh-sek-shoo-al-i-tee) n. The nature of failing to conform to traditional gender roles. A physical presentation that transcends the boundaries of sex-based expectation.
Me-tro-text-u-al-i-ty (me-troh-tekst-yoo-al-i-tee) n. 1. Types of writing that fall in the spaces between genres and deal with topics that can not be easily categorized. 2. A small press started in the spring of 2009.
Metrotextuality Press is the brainchild of Elizabeth Boskey and Sara Eileen Hames and was created to publish works that explore the intersections of sex, science, identity, and culture.
The goal of Metrotextuality Press is to publish voices who might not otherwise be heard, without restriction to a particular genre or form. We hope to encourage the intelligent exploration of issues that fall outside the boundaries of everyday conversation by publishing the work of artists, academics, poets, and writers who craft their words in the spaces between.
This website, Metrotextuality.com, is not only the home of Metrotextuality – the journal, and the Metrotextuality Press, but also a place where we can grow a community of writers, readers, and artists who are passionate about investigating the questions that far too many people would prefer to leave in the dark.
We welcome your suggestions in that endeavor, and look forward to reading your work.
Our goal is to have our first book, When the Black Sheep Meets The Wolf, on the shelves by late fall 2009.
